We Tell Stories:

Penguin commissioned six authors to tell a story a week using Google Maps as the interface.

The most interesting and inspiring thing I’ve seen in a while.

This is not a great demonstration of reading comprehension. We Tell Stories is a fucking brilliant piece of work — and the map-based format of “The 21 Steps” specifically inspired an experimental Gameplaywright work — but only one of the six stories in the project is told via annotated maps. Praise is better when it’s accurate.

Also interesting here is watching this thing careen across Tumblr now, with gasps and astonishment, a full year after the project was first published. For all that Internet hype culture is about what’s happening right now, the possibility that things do still have value online after a year is heartening.

"When playing Shakespeare, you are never in Verona, never in Arden, never in Egypt, Rome or England...."

“When playing Shakespeare, you are never in Verona, never in Arden, never in Egypt, Rome or...

scout:

Amen to this. Monmouth was suggested it to me before my last trip to London, and I passed that suggestion along to Scout, who brought back this picture… which makes me crazy when I compare it to the cup of coffee on my desk right now.

A silly thing I put together this weekend.

A silly thing I put together this weekend.

scout:

Reimagination of the Day: Swedish art student Tomas Nilsson modeled this wonderful Chris Ware-style interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood after the equally wonderful video for Röyksopp’s “Remind me”.
