"Not you," the others said. "You don’t understand because you’re not in it. You’re not inside it, you can’t know. You’re detached and ignorant."

Some day, maybe, I’ll achieve the exact right distance from things and then I’ll understand. Then I can speak and be allowed inside. In the meantime, I’ll just stand in the wet sand between the land and the sea, hoping for a ship or a car to arrive before I suffocate or drown.
